<title>The 2025 Trump-Putin Summit: Road to Peace and European Integration</title>
<link>https://irek.ase.md:443/xmlui/handle/123456789/4952</link>
<description>The 2025 Trump-Putin Summit: Road to Peace and European Integration
Khan, Kamran
This study investigates the 2025 Alaska summit between Presidents Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin as a diplomatic effort to address the ongoing armed conflict between Ukraine and the Russia. The primary objective is to analyze the prospects for peace in Ukraine, considering the complex interplay of sovereignty, European integration, security guarantees, reconstruction, and strategic resource management. Specifically, the study aims to identify the constraints and opportunities for Ukraine’s future within the European and global political context. A qualitative research methodology is employed, relying on data sources including speeches, statements, conferences, and organization reports. Key leader’s declarations from the United States, Russia, Ukraine, and European Union countries are interpreted to assess diplomatic intentions and negotiation dynamics. Supplementary data on humanitarian impacts, infrastructure damage, refugee flows, and financial aid are drawn from UNHCR, World Bank Rapid Damage and Needs Assessments (RDNA), and economic reports, enabling an understanding of both material consequences and interests. The results reveal that peace prospects hinge on three interlinked areas: (i) balancing Ukraine’s potential non-membership in the EU and NATO with robust security guarantees; (ii) addressing sovereignty concerns alongside European Union integration; and (iii) coordinating post war reconstruction with resource management to avoid dependency. European Union member states exhibit diverging positions, reflecting economic, security, and geopolitical considerations. The study concludes that the most sustainable path to peace is a hybrid strategy in which the Ukraine abandons the desire of EU membership, obtains security guarantees from non-NATO partners, forms economic cooperation agreements, and keeps full control over its mineral resources. <title>Gender-Based Violence in the Context of Multiculturality and International Economic Relations: Comparative Perspectives from Romania and Moldova in an EU Frame</title>

<description>Gender-Based Violence in the Context of Multiculturality and International Economic Relations: Comparative Perspectives from Romania and Moldova in an EU Frame
Martin, Aurora; Lupu, Vera
This article examines gender-based violence (GBV) through the lens of multiculturality and international economic relations, emphasizing its dual role as a human rights issue and a determinant of sustainable development. It draws on key international instruments such as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, CEDAW, and the Istanbul Convention to analyze how GBV restricts women’s empowerment, limits labor market participation, perpetuates structural inequalities, and undermines social cohesion. The study applies a comparative approach, focusing on Moldova’s recent legal reforms and Romania’s more mature institutional framework. Moldova’s ratification of the Istanbul Convention and pioneering measures against digital violence illustrate its commitment to aligning with European standards. Romania contributes valuable good practices, including legal innovations, integrated services, and multicultural strategies. The findings highlight that multicultural contexts carry both risks, through entrenched patriarchal norms and opportunities, by fostering intercultural dialogue and policy learning. Addressing GBV requires mainstreaming gender equality across policy sectors, strengthening institutions, and leveraging international cooperation. Comparative and global insights show that reducing GBV is not only an ethical imperative but also a driver of inclusive growth and competitiveness. JEL: F22, J16, K37

<title>Moldova's Exports: Between Regional Instability and the Challenges of the Global Economy</title>

<description>Moldova's Exports: Between Regional Instability and the Challenges of the Global Economy
Colibaverdi , Corina
The article analyzes how Moldova's exports have been affected by the regional instability caused by the conflict in Ukraine. As well as the macroeconomic challenges of the global economy, the volatility of international prices, the fragmentation of supply chains and inflationary pressures, (focus on the year 2020-2024). This study pursued three directions: the analysis of the value and structural development of exports, changes in the geographical structure and the assessment of the economy's ability to adapt to external impacts. The research comprises both quantitative and qualitative evaluation indicators, such as the Export Diversification Index – to determine structural change in exports, the Herfindahl-Hirschman Index (HHI) – to measure export market concentration and systemic vulnerability external shocks (logistical bottlenecks, fluctuations in global demand). Data sources such as the National Bureau of Statistics, UNCTADstat, the World Bank and Trade Map were used. The result shows a dependence on traditional markets and low value-added products. The situation increases the vulnerability of exports to external shocks. However, some progress has been seen in recent years – notably in diversifying the processed agri-food sector and expanding trade. Even so, the low level of the diversification index and the high values of HHI show that structural imbalances remain strong. That is why we need trade policies that are resilient and much more flexible. In the new global context, Moldova has only to gain if it rethinks its export promotion model. A focus on smarter integration into international value chains, better resilience to disruption and diversification could turn exports into an engine of sustainable growth. JEL: F10, F15, F43
