Abstract:
The article reflects the main instruments regulating the state's family policy, some of which are compared with those developed at the European level. The analysis of the system of allowances/benefits granted to families and those with children reveals that family policies in Moldova are predominantly financial, with insufficient attention paid to family services. The changes made to the system of child care leave aimed to facilitate the reconciliation of family and professional life; however, their impact remains limited due to the insufficient availability of child care services. Although flexible work programs are regulated within the legal framework, their implementation is limited. The article concludes that current family policies in Moldova must adopt a multidimensional and cross-sectoral approach in order to effectively address the challenges of demographic sustainability and social inclusion, promoting real support in the face of economic and social vulnerabilities and ensuring a better balance between work and family life.
