Abstract:
This paper analyzes the legal framework applicable to electoral crimes in the Republic of
Moldova, with a focus on offenses such as obstructing the electoral process, voter corruption, and falsification of voting results. Using a qualitative doctrinal methodology, the study interprets national legislation - especially Articles 181 and 182 of the Criminal Code - and compares these provisions with international standards and democratic principles. The research identifies gaps in the current legal definitions, inconsistencies in the application of criminal norms, and the need to integrate jurisprudential practice and international recommendations more effectively. The conclusions point to the necessity of refining the legal framework and enhancing institutional capacities in order to safeguard electoral integrity and democratic values.
